Oyo APC governorship candidate and party leaders meet Tinubu over 2027 election plans

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Sharafadeen Alli, alongside senatorial candidates and party leaders, visited President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence to brief him on the outcome of the party’s primaries and preparations ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The delegation was led by Oyo APC chairman, Moses Adeyemo, who said the meeting was to update the president on internal party developments and reassure him of the party’s readiness to challenge the ruling administration in the state.

According to Adeyemo, President Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the party and pledged his support towards the 2027 election cycle.

He also stated that the APC in Oyo State remained confident and unshaken by the current administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, adding that the party had already mapped out strategies for victory, though details were not made public.

Sharafadeen Alli, who recently emerged as the APC governorship candidate after a contested primary against former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, expressed optimism about winning the 2027 election. He attributed his confidence to strong party backing, support from President Tinubu, and widespread mobilisation across the state.

Alli also emphasised reconciliation efforts within the party, stating that consultations had been ongoing even before the primaries and that aggrieved aspirants had agreed to work together after the election process.

The meeting also touched on internal unity within the APC, with party leaders highlighting ongoing reconciliation efforts aimed at strengthening the party structure ahead of the polls.

Despite disputes surrounding the primary election outcome, the APC leadership maintained that the party remains united and focused on reclaiming power in Oyo State in 2027.
