Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has announced that the 39 pupils and five teachers rescued from captivity in Oriire will undergo medical observation for 48 hours before being handed over to state authorities.

The governor visited the victims at a military hospital, expressing gratitude for their safe return and acknowledging the bravery of security personnel who risked lives during the rescue.

While celebrating the successful operation, Makinde highlighted the physical and emotional trauma suffered by the victims, emphasizing the need for comprehensive medical care and psychosocial support.He also mentioned that some security operatives lost their lives in the mission, urging the public to honor their sacrifice.Arrangements are being made for families to reunite with the rescued, including a girl who has been asking to see her mother since release.The governor stressed unity against security challenges and promised a detailed briefing on the incident's circumstances soon.
