Group Captain Asim Tariq, a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) officer who lost his life while rescuing a woman from a distressing situation, was laid to rest with full military honors on July 7, 2026.

The funeral prayers were held at Margalla police station, near Air University, where senior PAF officials, including Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, paid tribute to the officer's courage and selflessness.According to ISPR, Tariq intervened when a suspect attempted to abduct the woman, leading to a confrontation where the suspect opened fire on him.The incident occurred as Tariq was en route to Rawalpindi for an official assignment.Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi confirmed that the suspect was arrested within nine hours.The officer's sacrifice is highlighted as embodying the PAF's commitment to protecting both national security and civilian lives.His actions underscore the dedication of military personnel to safeguarding public dignity and safety, even at personal risk.
