A low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within 24 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).The LPA, which formed outside PAR on July 20, is currently located 1,505 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.PAGASA predicts it may enter PAR by Wednesday, July 22, and be named Kiyapo, the Filipino word for water cabbage.

The southwest monsoon is expected to bring moderate to heavy rain, with potential flooding and landslides in regions like Mindanao and Western Visayas. While Metro Manila currently experiences localized thunderstorms, rain from the monsoon is expected to intensify.PAGASA advises the public to monitor updates as forecasts may change. The potential Kiyapo could affect Northern and Central Luzon by midweek, with significant rainfall predicted in several regions.
