Cross River State Launches Seven-Year Coffee Development Plan to Diversify Economy
The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has announced that 16 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) fully implemented key business reforms in its 2026 midterm assessment.
Top performers include Nigeria Customs Service, Nigerian Ports Authority, National Pension Commission, and National Information Technology Development Agency.
PEBEC's Director-General, Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, highlighted that the assessment focused on addressing gaps in the 2025 Business Facilitation Act Compliance Report rather than ranking agencies. The council emphasized technical support to improve service delivery, transparency, and efficiency.Over 98% of business-facing MDAs now respond promptly to enquiries, a significant improvement from a year ago.
PEBEC also launched an integrated digital platform to reduce duplication in information submission and is working with states to align tax systems with federal reforms.
The council plans to establish industrial hubs under its EnableHer programme to support Nigerian businesses, especially women-led enterprises, under the African Continental Free Trade Area. These efforts aim to enhance Nigeria's business environment and investor confidence through sustained reforms and digital integration.
