A 76-year-old Perth man will appear in court on Friday after federal police allegedly found dozens of images and videos of child abuse material on an electronic tablet seized during a raid on his home.

The Australian Federal Police executed a search warrant at the man’s Westminster home on June 30, where they allegedly discovered a tablet containing explicit content.He faces charges of accessing and possessing child abuse material, which could result in up to 15 years’ jail time for each offence.The man has been in custody since his arrest and is set to appear in Perth Magistrates Court.

AFP Detective Acting Inspector Josh Gilmour emphasized that any form of child abuse material, including animated content, is illegal and that those involved will face legal consequences.The case highlights ongoing efforts to combat online exploitation and the strict penalties for such crimes in Australia.
