Prof.Gul Rahim Khan, a distinguished archaeologist from Peshawar University, has been awarded the prestigious Oriental Numismatic Society (ONS) Ashoka Prize 2025 in London for his groundbreaking research on ancient coins attributed to the queens of the Utpala Dynasty of medieval Kashmir.

His paper titled 'Attribution of Coins to the Queens of the Utpala Dynasty of Medieval Kashmir (JONS 260)' highlights the socio-political significance of female rulers in this historical region, offering new insights into overlooked aspects of medieval Kashmiri history.

The award recognizes his decades-long contributions to South Asian archaeology, including excavations at Peshawar's Hayatabad site that uncovered early urban industrial complexes.Dr.
