Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has urged President Bola Tinubu to step down ahead of the 2027 election, arguing that the leader is too exhausted to tackle Nigeria's worsening economic and security challenges.

During an interview on Channels Television, Obi criticized Tinubu's current leadership, stating that the president lacks the energy and commitment needed to reverse the country's decline.

He highlighted rising poverty, hunger, and insecurity as key issues, citing World Bank data showing 79% of Nigerians could face poverty and 35 million at risk of hunger.Obi also condemned political focus on personalities over systemic problems, calling for urgent action on education, healthcare, and governance.He emphasized that addressing poverty is crucial to reducing crime and insecurity, while pledging a hands-on leadership style if elected president.

The former Labour Party candidate stressed his commitment to Nigeria's progress over personal ambition, urging leaders to prioritize the nation's needs.
