The Airline Pilots' Association of India (ALPA) has urged the Centre and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to immediately suspend commercial flights by Indian carriers to Gulf destinations like Dubai and Abu Dhabi due to heightened security risks from the escalating conflict in West Asia.

The association highlighted that renewed hostilities between the US and Iran have created vulnerabilities for civil aviation, including risks from military activity, missile engagements, GPS interference, and changing airspace restrictions.ALPA emphasized the need for a comprehensive security assessment by national security agencies and aviation experts before resuming flights.This comes after a similar appeal by ALPA in March 2026, which was followed by a pause in the US-Iran conflict.

The association also called for robust risk mitigation measures, updated insurance coverage, and ensuring pilots are not pressured to operate in unsafe airspace.They offered technical assistance to the DGCA for conflict-zone risk assessments.The DGCA and aviation ministry are expected to review these concerns as the situation in West Asia remains volatile.
