Relebohile Mofokeng, the Belgium-based star who left Orlando Pirates after the World Cup, emerged as the biggest winner at the Premier Soccer League (PSL) awards ceremony.

Despite his departure to join Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, Mofokeng retained the young player of the year award and secured footballer of the year and players’ player of the year accolades, capping a season where his team clinched the Betway Premiership for the first time since 2012.

The Pirates dominated the awards night, with Moroccan coach Abdeslam Ouaddou named best coach after leading the team to their first championship in his debut season.

Four other Buccaneers—goalkeeper Sipho Chaine, midfielder Oswin Appollis, defender Lebone Seema, and striker Camren Dansin—were also recognized for their contributions.Chaine’s record-breaking goalkeeping performance, Appollis’ midfield prowess, and Seema’s defensive excellence were highlighted.Dansin’s memorable goal against Sundowns was voted goal of the season.

Pirates added to their haul with Tshepang Moremi winning the MTN8 last man standing and Mbekezeli Mbokazi securing Carling Knockout player of the tournament honors, despite leaving the club in January.

Durban City’s Darren Keet and TS Galaxy’s Seluleko Mahlambi also received awards for their roles in the Nedbank Cup and tournament performances, respectively.
