Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appointed General Aamer Raza as the Commander of the National Strategic Command, promoting him from Lieutenant General to Four-Star General.

This appointment comes under the Pakistan Army, Air Force, and Navy (Amendment) Bills 2025, which established the new position after abolishing the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC).Gen Raza, previously serving as Chief of the General Staff of Pakistan Army, will hold the post for a three-year term as per the legislation.The Prime Minister's Office highlighted the promotion and appointment, emphasizing the importance of the role.Field Marshal Asim Munir was also appointed as Chief of Defence Forces under the same bill.
