Police Arrest Seven-Man Kidnapping Syndicate in Katsina After Abduction of 8-Year-Old Boy

The Katsina State Government has commended the Katsina State Police Command following the successful arrest of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate believed to be operating within Katsina metropolis.The arrest was carried out by operatives of the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) through intelligence-led operations.

The gang was linked to the abduction of an eight-year-old boy who was kidnapped on May 13, 2026, while returning from an Islamic school in the Sardauna Housing Estate area of Katsina.According to investigations, the criminal group is allegedly led by a man identified as Nura Aliyu, also known as “Nura Garwa.” Security operatives reportedly tracked and dismantled the syndicate following coordinated intelligence gathering and operational planning.During the operation, the police also recovered exhibits connected to the crime, strengthening ongoing investigations into the kidnapping incident.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasir Mu’azu Danmusa, described the operation as a major success in the fight against kidnapping and violent crimes in the state.

He praised the professionalism, bravery, and swift response of the VCRU operatives under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage.

He further stated that the achievement reflects the commitment of Governor Dikko Radda’s administration to improving security through stronger collaboration with law enforcement agencies.

The state government reaffirmed its dedication to supporting security agencies with resources and an enabling environment to protect lives and property.

Residents were also urged to stay vigilant and provide credible information to assist security operatives in tackling kidnapping, banditry, and other forms of criminal activity across Katsina State.
