Police have arrested two men in connection with the murder of anti-crime activist Thato Molosankwe, describing the arrests as a major breakthrough in an investigation that has gripped the North West province since his killing in May.

Acting North West police commissioner Maj-Gen Ryno Naidoo announced the suspects, aged 28 and 38, were linked to the attack after weeks of intensive investigations.Molosankwe was shot multiple times at his home on May 20, with attackers fleeing on foot before escaping in a nearby vehicle.He later died from his injuries.

The first suspect was arrested on May 23 for the murders of business owners Sergio and Marlene Gomez, while the second was tracked down in Mmabatho Extension 39.Police believe both are part of a wider criminal syndicate involved in murders, robberies, and drug dealing.Naidoo emphasized the investigation is ongoing, with detectives still searching for firearms and additional suspects.The motive remains unclear, though activism against crime is suspected.The arrests aim to bring justice to the Molosankwe family, with suspects set to appear in court.
