President William Ruto has pledged KSh 80 million to support Nairobi's informal sector artisans and mechanics by providing modern tools and equipment.

Over 5,000 workers attended a meeting at State House, where Ruto outlined initiatives to formalize the sector, including constructing modern workshops and expanding the Recognition of Prior Learning program, which has enrolled over 40,000 Kenyans.The funding aims to boost productivity, enable formal business operations, and improve safety standards.

Ruto also linked the initiative to the Affordable Housing Programme, highlighting 36 ongoing projects set to deliver 180,000 housing units and create thousands of jobs.

The move underscores the government's focus on youth employment and economic inclusion, with Ruto defending his commitment to fully fund higher education for qualifying students.
