Reform UK seeks NCA investigation into potential leaks of private financial data

Reform UK deputy leader Richard Tice has written to the National Crime Agency (NCA) requesting an investigation into whether the agency leaked his private financial information to the media.

Payments made to Tice's organisations were flagged in Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), which he only became aware of after being contacted by the Guardian. The NCA declined to confirm or deny receipt of SARs, stressing their confidentiality.Tice's company, Tisun Investment, received a £80,000 loan from George Cottrell, a close ally of Reform leader Nigel Farage, in late 2024.

A think tank owned by Tice, Britain Means Business, also received a £1m donation from Cottrell's mother Fiona in June 2024, with data showing the organisation donated £500,000 to Reform UK that month. The NCA flagged these payments under SARs, which alert law enforcement to potential money laundering. In 2024/25, over 866,000 cases were reported.

Cottrell faces scrutiny after the Sunday Times revealed he provided Farage with support before his election, though Reform argues this was in a 'purely personal capacity' and thus exempt from disclosure rules. The controversy highlights tensions around financial transparency and political donations.
