Screenings of Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' in the rare 70mm IMAX format at Regal King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, were disrupted after the theater's specialized film projector experienced technical problems.

The venue is one of only a limited number of theaters worldwide showing the movie in this format, making the issue particularly frustrating for fans who traveled long distances to attend.Regal informed customers that only digital IMAX screenings would continue while IMAX technicians worked to repair the equipment.The theater apologized for the disruption but said there was no estimated timeline for when normal 70mm film operations would resume.

The King of Prussia location is the only theater in Pennsylvania offering the 70mm IMAX presentation of the film and one of only a few dozen in the United States.

Some moviegoers traveled from states including Virginia and South Carolina specifically to experience Nolan's preferred large-format presentation.

Several customers expressed disappointment that they were not notified earlier about the projector problem and said they only learned about the cancellation after arriving at the theater.

Regal offered affected customers refunds and complimentary digital IMAX screenings, though some attendees felt the alternative did not compensate for missing the unique 70mm IMAX experience.

Nolan has previously highlighted the format's superior image quality and immersive qualities, which have made the limited screenings highly sought after among film enthusiasts.
