Rwanda has officially confirmed its strong commercial partnership with Tanzania’s Tanga Port, recognising the port as a key gateway for its imports and exports.

During a high-level visit, Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Tanzania, Patrick Nyamvumba, inspected port operations and discussed ways to further boost trade relations.

He highlighted that Tanga Port has become an important hub for moving Rwandan cargo efficiently, which includes steel, vehicles, heavy machinery, and petroleum products.

The port’s reliable infrastructure and consistent performance have earned Rwanda’s trust, making it a preferred route alongside traditional ports like Mombasa.

The Acting Manager of Tanga Port, Peter Millanzi, affirmed the port’s dedication to continuous improvements in service, aiming to attract more clients from landlocked countries.

Strengthening Rwanda-Tanzania trade relations aligns with broader East African Community goals, promoting better connectivity, smoother customs processes, and regional economic growth. For Tanzania, the partnership ensures steady revenue for its port operations and creates job opportunities in logistics and transport sectors.

Overall, this move signals positive momentum in bilateral relations, showing how economic cooperation can strengthen ties and mutual prosperity in the region.
