SABC1 has announced a significant change to its weekday primetime schedule, moving the long-running soap opera 'Generations: The Legacy' to 8.30pm starting 27 July 2026.This marks the first timeslot adjustment for the show since its debut in the early 1990s.The drama will swap places with 'Uzalo', which will now occupy the 8pm slot.Skeem Saam remains at 7.30pm.

SABC1 channel head Ofentse Thinane emphasized that both dramas remain central to the channel's evening programming, stating that the change is part of a schedule refresh.

The decision comes as 'Uzalo' continues to lead in viewership, while 'Generations: The Legacy' remains one of SABC1's most established soap operas.The broadcaster has not provided specific reasons for the swap but plans to announce further programming changes on 27 July.Viewers will still enjoy both shows back-to-back, with no indication of their removal from prime time.This shift highlights the evolving landscape of South African television programming and the ongoing efforts to adapt to audience preferences.
