Sandile Ndlovu Recognized for Capturing Resilience and Hope Through Photography

The award, presented at the prestigious Sikuvile Journalism Awards in Johannesburg, marks Ndlovu as only the second photographer to achieve this distinction in the event's 16-year history.
His work, including projects like 'Mthwalume Brass Band' and 'The Skater,' showcases themes of perseverance and human strength amid challenging circumstances.
Ndlovu emphasized his commitment to spotlighting overlooked communities through authentic storytelling, noting that documentary photography requires patience and dedication.
Judges praised his ability to convey complete narratives through visuals alone, with 'The Skater' taking three years to complete after reconnecting with the subject.
