The legal team of Vice President Sara Duterte said it is prepared to respond to allegations against her after the Senate impeachment court began issuing subpoenas for her bank and tax records.Duterte's counsel, Atty.

Michael Poa, said the defence does not intend to prevent the release of documents but wants the process to follow existing laws, constitutional limits, and court rules.

He explained that their earlier objections were based on concerns that some legal restrictions may apply to the disclosure of certain financial information.

Poa said the defence team expected that the Senate impeachment court could approve the prosecution's request for access to Duterte's financial records.He added that they are ready to demonstrate that allegations of unexplained wealth against the Vice President have no factual basis.

The Senate has already issued subpoenas to several government agencies and financial institutions, including the Bureau of Internal Revenue, the Anti-Money Laundering Council, and various banks.These entities were given until July 30 to comply with the orders.

The impeachment case against Duterte involves accusations of culpable violation of the Constitution, graft and corruption, betrayal of public trust, bribery, and other high crimes.The House of Representatives impeached her for the second time in May, and the Senate formally convened as an impeachment court on May 18.Duterte's camp has denied the allegations and previously asked the Senate to dismiss the case.
