Security forces kill 19 militants as 11 soldiers embrace martyrdom during intelligence-based operation in Balochistan

At least 19 militants were killed while 11 security personnel embraced martyrdom during an intelligence-based operation conducted along the N-25 highway in Balochistan, according to security sources.

The operation took place between Jhao Cross and Kararo, where the militants were reportedly involved in extorting money from travellers and local residents.Security officials stated that the action was aimed at restoring law and order in the area and ensuring the safety of civilians using the highway. They also reaffirmed their commitment to protecting public life and property and preventing militant groups from disrupting peace in Balochistan. The operation comes amid an increase in militant violence across the province.

A day earlier, armed attackers targeted a police checkpoint in the Mangi area of Ziarat district, where nine police personnel embraced martyrdom following a gun battle.According to police officials, the attackers also abducted five policemen after overrunning the checkpoint.

Pakistan has experienced a notable rise in militant attacks since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021, with Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remaining the most affected regions.

In response to the deteriorating security situation, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq against what authorities describe as terrorist hideouts across the border.Pakistani officials have maintained that the operation resulted in the deaths of numerous militants and injuries to many others.Border tensions have also remained high following attacks on Pakistani border posts in late 2025.

Despite diplomatic engagements between Islamabad and Kabul, Pakistan continues to state that adequate action has not been taken against militant groups allegedly operating from Afghan territory.
