Jumia names Akinwumi Adesina to supervisory board to strengthen governance and profitability drive
Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL) has officially commissioned a series of Community Development Agreement (CDA) projects in Osun State, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development, infrastructure improvement, and economic empowerment within its host communities.
The commissioning ceremony took place in Odo-Ijesa, where His Imperial Majesty, the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup (Ajimoko III), visited the company’s operations and toured key facilities including the Segilola Gold Mine, Site Pit, and LRP Ifesowapo Fish Market.
During the visit, SROL unveiled major community projects such as the Ogere-Ekun Golden Water Factory in Iperindo, rehabilitation of the Imogbara/Odo-Ijesha road corridor, renovation of the Olumolu of Imogbara Palace, and the construction of a block of classrooms at Imogbara Primary School.
The water factory, a community-owned enterprise, is designed to produce about 3,000 litres of treated water per hour using advanced purification systems like reverse osmosis and ozone treatment.
It also includes production lines for sachet and bottled water, along with supporting infrastructure such as borehole supply, storage tanks, and a backup generator to ensure continuous operation.The 2.
4km road rehabilitation project was also completed using interlocking stones, drainage systems, and culverts to improve durability, reduce flooding, and enhance accessibility between communities.
According to company officials, these projects have already created over 80 direct jobs for indigenes, while strengthening long-term economic opportunities in the region.
The Owa Obokun praised SROL for its contributions to local employment and development, noting that a significant portion of its workforce comes from host communities.
Community leaders also expressed appreciation, describing the water factory as a sustainable, revenue-generating initiative that will improve access to clean drinking water and reduce water-borne diseases.
Overall, the projects reflect SROL’s broader CSR strategy aimed at inclusive growth, local empowerment, and building infrastructure that supports both economic and social development in Osun State communities.
