The Philippine Senate has officially elected Senators Rodante Marcoleta and Jinggoy Estrada as vice chairpersons of the Committee on Accountability of Public Officers and Investigations, more commonly known as the Blue Ribbon Committee.

The committee is one of the Senate’s key oversight bodies responsible for investigating alleged wrongdoing and irregularities involving public officials and government transactions.

Senator Pia Cayetano has been named as the new chairperson of the Blue Ribbon Committee, replacing Senator Panfilo Lacson, who previously led the panel.

Alongside the vice chair appointments, several senators were designated as members of the committee, including Senator Bong Go, Senator Robin Padilla, Senator Camille Villar, Senator Mark Villar, Senator Chiz Escudero, and Senator Imee Marcos.The reorganization of Senate committees also included other leadership changes.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian was elected vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, a significant post given its role in scrutinizing the national budget.Senator Mark Villar, on the other hand, was chosen as chairman of the same finance committee.

Additional committee assignments were also confirmed across various panels such as Energy, National Defense and Security, Youth, and Sustainable Development Goals, Innovation, and Futures Thinking.These committees now include a mix of returning and newly assigned senators, reflecting the Senate’s updated internal leadership structure.

Overall, the changes highlight the Senate’s periodic reorganization of its standing committees to ensure continuity in legislative work, oversight functions, and policy review across critical sectors of government.
