Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano has called on the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to continue its probe into alleged anomalies in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) projects.He emphasized that the investigation should also address the ongoing flood control scandal, which his minority bloc had previously paused.

Cayetano, who chaired the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) in 2019, urged the NBI to thoroughly examine the SEA Games anomalies, stating that the probe would be supported by his faction.The NBI director, Melvin Matibag, announced plans to form a task force to investigate the anomalies, citing new documents received.

However, Cayetano questioned whether Matibag's remarks were an attempt to intimidate him, given the ongoing impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.Matibag is set to testify in the trial, addressing Article IV of the impeachment case against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.and others.

The NBI director is expected to face the impeachment court next week, highlighting the intersection of political and legal investigations in the country.
