Senate President Sherwin 'Win' Gatchalian has expressed anticipation for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.to address economic recovery strategies during his upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 27.

This will be Marcos' first SONA since the fallout from the flood control scam scandal, which implicated several politicians, including his allies.Gatchalian emphasized the need for concrete measures to jumpstart economic growth, reduce poverty, and create employment opportunities.

He highlighted the importance of transparency and safeguards in the budget to curb corruption, which has significantly impacted the Philippine economy.The lawmaker also called for specific reforms in the Department of Public Works and Highways and other agencies to prevent future corruption schemes.

The SONA comes amid Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial, underscoring the political and economic challenges facing the administration.
