Senator Risa Hontiveros has called on the Philippine government to summon the Chinese ambassador in response to an AI-generated video by a Chinese state-run media outlet that depicts Filipinos as monkeys.The video, which is part of content dismissing the 2016 Arbitral Award on the West Philippine Sea dispute, was condemned as racist propaganda.Hontiveros emphasized that such depictions strip Filipinos of their humanity and called for China to issue a public apology.

She argued that the video weakens China's credibility in fostering friendship with the Philippines and urged diplomatic resolution through international law rather than propaganda.

Senior Deputy Majority Leader JV Ejercito also criticized the video as a desperate attempt by China to isolate the Philippines, calling it 'AI slop' that fuels prejudice and misinformation.Both lawmakers stressed that the 2016 Arbitral Award remains final and binding, rejecting efforts to undermine its validity through disinformation.
