Ramesh Mhatre, a Shiv Sena corporator from Maharashtra's Dombivli, was granted bail after being arrested for allegedly assaulting doctors and hospital staff.

The incident occurred on July 6 when Mhatre and his associates allegedly attacked medical personnel at Shastri Nagar Hospital following a dispute over bed availability for a pregnant woman.The police opposed the bail application, citing Mhatre's alleged criminal record and the potential danger to the complainant.However, the court approved bail with a Rs 50,000 bond, noting his health conditions including a single kidney and multiple ailments.The case involves charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for assaulting public servants and rioting.At least one doctor involved has resigned due to safety concerns.Mhatre surrendered to police on July 8 after complaining of health issues, having previously absconded.
