The Uttar Pradesh government has reconstituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe allegations of embezzlement in the Ram temple fund.The SIT, comprising three senior IPS officers, was formed following a Supreme Court directive to address concerns raised by Opposition leaders and a whistleblower about mismanagement of donations.The team's preliminary report, submitted on June 23, revealed 70 instances where staff hid cash in their clothing during counting processes.It also highlighted lapses in security protocols at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and the State Bank of India.While trustee Anil Mishra and general secretary Champat Rai resigned from their positions, no formal action was recommended against them.

The SIT's findings underscore systemic issues in financial oversight, prompting calls for stricter accountability mechanisms to prevent future discrepancies.
