KZN road safety operation arrests 13 motorists for drunk driving, including taxi driver 20 times over limit and SANDF member
Radio personality Sizwe Dhlomo has publicly reacted to reports that former broadcaster Unathi Nkayi was allegedly arrested for drunk driving. His reaction came after he reshared a Sunday Times post on social media, accompanied by an eyes emoji, which immediately sparked debate online.
Some social media users interpreted his post as a sign that he was taking a swipe at Nkayi, with critics accusing him of harbouring ongoing personal animosity towards her.The exchange revived memories of the pair’s highly publicised fallout in 2021 while both were working at Kaya 959.At the time, Nkayi was dismissed following a dispute in which she accused Dhlomo of verbal abuse and unprofessional behaviour.
Dhlomo, however, strongly refuted the allegations and submitted studio recordings to Human Resources which, according to reports, contradicted Nkayi’s claims.
Responding to criticism on X (formerly Twitter), Dhlomo defended his stance, saying he has an issue with what he described as false accusations and irresponsible behaviour. He further stated that those who engage in such conduct should be held accountable. In another post, he went on to say that Nkayi was “getting exactly what she deserves”, adding that he was unapologetic about his position.
Dhlomo has previously spoken openly about the fallout, including in a 2024 podcast interview where he said the dispute was deeply personal and could have had serious career implications if he had not properly documented his side of the story. He also noted that he has not seen Nkayi since her departure from the station. The situation continues to generate public debate, with many weighing in on whether his comments are justified or unnecessarily inflammatory.
