URC play-offs present key opportunity for six Springbok contenders to impress
The Stormers have finalised their team for the United Rugby Championship (URC) quarter-final against Cardiff, with captain Ruhan Nel returning at outside centre alongside Dan du Plessis.This pairing marks their 30th start together, equalling the record set by Stormers legends De Wet Barry and Marius Joubert.
Other changes include Seabelo Senatla returning to the wing, while Damian Willemse, flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, and left wing Leolin Zas have been declared fit following minor injuries earlier in the week.
Willemse and Zas were involved in a training collision, and Feinberg-Mngomezulu had a mild cold, but all participated in the final captain's run on Friday.
Young props Vernon Matongo and Zachary Porthen will come off the bench, and utility forward Ruan Ackermann returns after recovering from a neck injury.
Director of rugby John Dobson emphasised the importance of leveraging the home advantage at DHL Stadium and noted that this is one of the most experienced Stormers squads selected for a knockout match.The team is determined to deliver a memorable performance in front of their Cape Town supporters.
