Mavunde emphasized that the 2017 Mining Act's Section 133 prioritizes local participation, addressing past issues where foreign firms dominated without benefiting locals.Amendments to regulations now require genuine partnerships, ensuring Tanzanians hold key positions in mining companies.Companies are given timeframes to transfer operations to locals, and the government continues monitoring compliance.Geita Gold Mining Limited exemplifies this shift, employing 98% Tanzanian workers and sourcing 97% of purchases locally.The policy aims to balance foreign investment with local economic growth.
