Tanzania has announced an ambitious plan to achieve universal access to clean and safe water across all villages by 2031.This initiative, unveiled at the African Water Forum in N’Djamena, Chad, aligns with the National Development Vision 2050 and emphasizes strategic investments, digital technology, and private sector collaboration.

Deputy Minister Laurent Luswetula highlighted that reliable water access is critical for economic transformation, supporting sectors like agriculture, industry, energy, and public health.

The government plans to expand water infrastructure through projects like the National Water Grid and climate-resilient WASH services, while leveraging Public-Private Partnerships to address rural challenges.Digital innovations will optimize distribution and maintenance, ensuring sustainable service delivery.

This effort aims to improve public health, reduce disease outbreaks, and enhance climate resilience, positioning Tanzania as a model for African water security.
