Tanzania boosts healthcare with 800m shilling investment in Mkuranga hospital

The Tanzanian government has allocated 800 million shillings to Mkuranga District Council for constructing a multi-storey building at the district hospital, enhancing healthcare infrastructure in rural areas.

District Commissioner Khadija Ali announced the funding during a cleanliness exercise, emphasizing the government's commitment to upgrading medical facilities.

The new building will include pharmacies, eye and dental clinics, vaccination units, three patient wards, physiotherapy departments, and 17 administrative offices, improving service delivery and reducing patient waiting times.Ali urged healthcare workers to prioritize quality care, ensuring dignified treatment for all.Residents welcomed the investment, pledging to protect the hospital infrastructure.

The initiative aligns with broader coastal development projects, including healthcare expansions in Bagamoyo and Chalinze districts, as well as revenue-generating projects like the Msoga Football Stadium and bus terminal. These efforts aim to decentralize healthcare, strengthen local economies, and improve public infrastructure across Tanzania.
