65 billion Tanzanian shillings, aims to stabilize the electricity distribution network and reduce frequent outages that have hindered economic activities in Mtwara Region.

Energy Minister Deogratius Ndejembi emphasized the initiative aligns with the government’s strategy to strengthen national infrastructure, ensuring reliable power supply for households, businesses, and investors.

The project will significantly boost Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO)'s capacity to meet growing electricity demands, supporting regional development and attracting new investments.

High-ranking officials, including Mtwara Regional Commissioner Colonel Donald Msengi and TANESCO Managing Director Lazaro Twange, attended the inauguration, underscoring the project’s strategic importance.

This initiative complements Tanzania’s broader efforts to position itself as an energy hub in East Africa, enhancing cross-border electricity trade and regional grid connectivity.
