Tanzania Revenue Authority Aims for TZS 41.83 Trillion in 2026/2027

The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has set a new revenue collection target of TZS 41.83 trillion for the 2026/2027 financial year, following a successful collection of TZS 37.96 trillion in 2025/2026, which exceeded the previous target of TZS 36.07 trillion by 105%.The Authority's strategies, developed during a performance review meeting, focus on strengthening revenue mobilization and taxpayer services.

TRA Board Chairman Uledi Mussa emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relationships with taxpayers and highlighted the Authority's achievements as a result of effective planning and implementation.

Commissioner General Yusuph Mwenda noted that the target reflects the country's economic growth and the need for continued collaboration between TRA and taxpayers.

The expansion of TRA's capacity, from TZS 21 trillion to over TZS 40 trillion, is attributed to reforms like digital tax systems and taxpayer facilitation initiatives.The Authority also promotes its model internationally, with several African countries studying its systems.Mwenda reiterated TRA's commitment to fair tax assessments and public engagement through initiatives like the TRA United football club.
