Tanzania has emerged as the most represented country in East Africa at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), with 11 artistes and creatives earning nominations across multiple categories.

The nominations, announced ahead of the September 12 awards ceremony in Dallas, Texas, highlight Tanzania's growing influence on the African music scene.

Leading the charge in the Best Male East Africa category are Diamond Platnumz, Juma Jux, Marioo, Barnaba, and Mbosso, competing against Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, and South Sudan artists.In the Best Female East Africa category, Zuchu and Abigail Chams represent Tanzania, facing competition from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Ethiopia.

Beyond regional categories, Tanzania also secures nominations in technical and gospel categories, including Hanscana for Best Video Director and Christina Shusho and Joel Lwaga in the Best Gospel category.

The nominations reflect Tanzania's expanding influence on the continental music scene and the global appeal of Bongo Flava and Tanzanian creative talent.
