Tanzania's tourism sector has become a key driver of economic growth, with international tourist arrivals rising by 5.9% to 2.3 million in the year ending June 2026.This increase generated higher spending across accommodation, transport, and hospitality sectors, boosting travel receipts to $4.42 billion.The broader service sector also saw a 14.2% surge in earnings to $8.05 billion, led by tourism and transport growth.Transport services recorded a 16% jump to $3.15 billion, driven by increased freight earnings from transit cargo.

The government's focus on infrastructure upgrades and marketing campaigns has supported this expansion, while international recognition highlights Tanzania's recovery post-pandemic.Domestic tourism also grew by 13.1%, contributing to the country's economic resilience.
