Tanzania’s women’s national football team, Twiga Stars, is set to depart for Morocco to finalize preparations ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The squad, currently training in Karatu, Manyara Region, has made progress under head coach Bakari Shime and will face Group B opponents including defending champions South Africa, Ivory Coast, and Burkina Faso.

TFF National Teams Director Almasy Kasongo expressed confidence in the team’s readiness, highlighting their disciplined approach and focus on continental competition.The coaching staff has selected a balanced squad blending local and overseas-based players to enhance performance and chemistry.Assistant coach Edna Lema noted the team’s adaptation to intense training and positive atmosphere.

With ambitions of reaching the semi-finals and securing World Cup qualification, Twiga Stars aim to make history in Morocco after their 2026 WAFCON debut.Their group matches start on July 27 against South Africa at Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca.
