Team Nigeria is set to benefit from improved welfare support ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.The National Sports Commission has unveiled a comprehensive package that includes higher allowances, better travel funding, and upgraded performance bonuses for athletes and officials.Each athlete and official now gets ₦250,000 for travel to the national camp and another ₦250,000 for return flights post-Games.Daily allowances have been increased significantly: athletes receive $200 per competition day, while coaches get $250.Medal winners will also get cash rewards, with gold medallists earning $5,000, silver medallists $3,000, and bronze medallists $2,000.President Bola Tinubu is expected to host the medallists after the Games.

World 100m hurdles record holder Tobi Amusan has joined Team Nigeria's training camp in Aberdeen, Scotland, where she praised the facilities and expressed confidence in the team's performance.The Federal Government has also approved instant medal bonuses for athletes and matching rewards for their coaches.This enhanced support aims to boost Team Nigeria's chances of success at the Games.
