Radio Free Alice Explore Isolation and Cultural Confusion in New Single 'Kick In The Shins'
Scottish indie veterans Teenage Fanclub have announced their upcoming 13th studio album, ‘Do Not Dare To Dream’, alongside the release of a new single titled ‘Day In The Sun’.The album will arrive on 9 October via Merge Records and follows their 2023 release ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’.
\n\nThe new record sees the band continuing to explore their trademark melodic guitar sound, rich vocal harmonies and reflective songwriting, while also looking for new creative directions.
‘Day In The Sun’ introduces the album with a relaxed and atmospheric style, focusing on themes of renewal and finding a fresh perspective despite difficult circumstances.
\n\nAccording to singer Norman Blake, the album challenges simplistic messages of optimism, questioning the idea that people can simply choose to dream their way out of problems.Fellow songwriter Raymond McGinley explained that the group still embraces positivity, but recognises that life can be complicated and uncertain.
\n\nThe album features long-standing members Euros Childs, Francis Macdonald and David McGowan, and was created through a more spontaneous studio process, with the musicians developing ideas together rather than overworking arrangements before recording. The band reflected on their long history since forming in 1989, describing music as something lasting beyond individual moments in life.
\n\nTeenage Fanclub will also embark on a UK and Ireland tour in November 2026, with performances planned in cities including Cambridge, Bristol, London, Manchester, Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin.
