Fans gathered throughout downtown Vancouver before the match, filling pubs, streets, and public viewing areas with chants, songs, and displays of national pride.The city transformed several public spaces to accommodate the influx of visitors.Granville Street became a pedestrian zone featuring expanded restaurant patios, entertainment, games, and fan activities.The official FIFA Fan Festival and other viewing events also attracted significant crowds.Many Australian supporters travelled long distances to follow the Socceroos during the tournament.
Some wore distinctive outfits, including traditional Australian-themed clothing and accessories, while others planned to follow the national team to additional matches in Seattle and San Francisco.Several fans described the journey and expense as worthwhile despite challenges such as overnight ticket purchases due to time-zone differences.Turkish supporters also travelled to Vancouver in large numbers.Fans expressed surprise at the warm weather and praised the city's atmosphere and World Cup experience.The match highlighted Vancouver's role as one of Canada's host cities for the 2026 tournament.
Alongside Toronto, Vancouver will host multiple World Cup matches, helping attract thousands of international visitors and creating a vibrant multicultural celebration around the event.
