Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has announced that this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations will be jointly hosted by three counties in the Rift Valley region: Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, and Nandi.

This marks a historic first as the government aims to spread the commemorations across neighboring counties to promote inclusivity and national unity.

The week-long activities will culminate in a main ceremony at Kipchoge Stadium in Eldoret, with infrastructure projects like sports facilities, roads, and energy systems being developed in the host counties.The steering committee, comprising senior officials from multiple ministries, confirmed preparations are on track.Key stakeholders including governors and ministers attended a planning meeting at Harambee House in Nairobi.Mashujaa Day, observed annually on October 20, honors Kenyans who contributed to the country's independence struggle.Previous celebrations have been hosted in various counties, with host governors playing central roles alongside national representatives.
