A child drowned in a pond in the Legacy neighbourhood of Calgary on Sunday afternoon, according to Emergency Health Services (EHS) and the Calgary Fire Department (CFD).The incident occurred around 1 p.m.when crews were dispatched to a pond along Legacy Main Street S.E.after reports of a person submerged in water.A family member pulled the girl from the water, and CPR was initiated by firefighters until paramedics arrived.Despite efforts, the child was declared deceased at the scene.CFD Battalion Chief Bruce Barrs confirmed no other individuals were involved, and a STARS air ambulance was present but did not transport a patient.The incident highlights the dangers of water bodies, even in residential areas, and underscores the importance of vigilance around natural hazards.
