Judge orders removal of Trump name from Kennedy Center amid legal dispute over renaming
Former U.S.President Donald Trump has called for the impeachment of a federal judge after a ruling temporarily halted his plans to renovate the Kennedy Center and add his name to the building. The decision was made by U.S.
District Court Judge Christopher Cooper, who clarified that Congress, not the Kennedy Center's Board, holds the authority to determine the institution's name.Trump criticised Judge Cooper, alleging a conflict of interest linked to his wife’s political views, which he described as “Radical Left Democrat”.
Trump also painted a vivid picture of the Kennedy Center's current state, describing it as dilapidated, with rust, rot, and infestations, to underline the urgency of the proposed renovations.
Meanwhile, the Kennedy Center itself has announced its intention to appeal the ruling, emphasising the necessity of the $257 million renovation project to restore and preserve the building.
The dispute has attracted attention not only for its legal implications but also for the broader political tensions surrounding Trump’s ongoing public and institutional influence.
