Tulsi Gabbard, the US director of national intelligence under President Donald Trump, has resigned from her position, citing her husband's battle with a rare form of bone cancer.She is the fourth member of Trump's cabinet to step down this year, all of whom have been women.

Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii who later joined the Republican Party, was responsible for overseeing the US intelligence community, including the CIA and NSA.

While she has previously taken anti-interventionist foreign policy positions and sometimes criticised US policy on Iran, tensions with Trump over Iran-related matters reportedly contributed to her departure.Trump publicly acknowledged her resignation on social media, highlighting her service and attributing her exit to family commitments.The resignation coincides with heightened uncertainty over US-Iran relations, prompting speculation about potential military actions.

On the same day, Trump also cancelled a planned trip to his New Jersey golf club and confirmed he would not attend his son Donald Trump Jr’s wedding in the Bahamas, citing government responsibilities and the ongoing situation in Iran.The development underscores a pattern of turnover in Trump’s cabinet and adds to concerns over leadership stability amid international tensions.
