Two men were arrested by police in Kwara State after allegedly assaulting a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) during a disturbance at a police station.The suspects, Sesan Tolu and Sebastian Babatunde, were identified as the individuals involved in the incident.According to police sources, the altercation occurred on July 23 at around 7:14 p.m.when Tolu caused a disturbance and harassed officers in the charge room.Officers attempted to arrest him for his alleged conduct, but Babatunde intervened and allegedly prevented the police from carrying out their duty.Babatunde had previously been taken to the station in connection with an allegation of damaging crops belonging to Ismail at Ijaperin Village.

The situation escalated when Babatunde allegedly attacked CSP Adejuwon Morakinyo, the DPO, without provocation, striking him in the face and damaging his prescription glasses valued at ₦90,000.The suspects were subdued by officers and taken into custody.They are now being investigated for conspiracy, resisting arrest, obstruction of police duty, and assault on a senior officer.The incident highlights the challenges police face in maintaining order and the seriousness of such offenses under Nigerian law.
