Two men from Evaton, Gauteng, have been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of three individuals and attempted murder of a fourth during a violent confrontation in February 2023.

Patrick Mphindeli Mkhwanazi (39) and William Mbuyiswa (29) were convicted by the Sebokeng Regional Court after being found guilty of three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.The incident occurred when the men confronted four individuals at a home, accusing them of stealing drugs and firearms.A physical altercation ensued, resulting in three deaths and one injury.Neighbours alerted police, leading to the arrest of both suspects.Despite denying guilt during trial, compelling evidence presented by prosecutors proved their culpability.

The court emphasized the brutality of the crimes and the need for a deterrent sentence, rejecting mitigation arguments about their youth and employment status.The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) opposed bail applications, ensuring their continued detention.This case highlights escalating violence in communities over drug-related disputes.
