A shooting at the Chico branch of the Butte County Library in Northern California left two people dead on Monday evening, prompting a major response from local law enforcement.According to Chico Police Chief Billy Aldridge, officers were dispatched shortly after 5 p.m.following a 911 call during which gunshots and people screaming could be heard from inside the library.When officers entered the building, the suspected gunman fled through the rear of the facility.Additional officers positioned behind the library quickly apprehended the suspect and took the individual into custody.Authorities described the incident as a tragic and deeply traumatic event for both those present at the library and the wider Chico community.
