Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the security situation in Manipur with senior state officials in Delhi, discussing escalating ethnic violence between Kuki and Naga communities.The meeting, held on July 4, 2026, addressed the conflict that has claimed over 300 lives since May 2023.

Officials highlighted progress on border fencing along the 1,643-km India-Myanmar border, with 50 km fenced so far under a ₹31,000 crore project approved in 2024.The Free Movement Regime with Myanmar was revised to limit free movement to 10 km from the border.

The meeting also focused on recovering looted police weapons, managing refugee influx from Myanmar due to civil unrest, and coordinating with security forces like BSF and CRPF.

The Ministry of Home Affairs did not issue an official statement, but sources confirmed discussions on conflict hotspots and security measures to stabilize the region.
