The United States and Iran have escalated military tensions in the Gulf region following a series of drone incidents and retaliatory strikes near the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

According to US Central Command, American forces shot down multiple Iranian one-way attack drones that were perceived as an immediate threat to maritime traffic in the area.

In response, the US military struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar installations located in Goruk and on Qeshm Island, stating the action was taken in self-defense to deter further attacks and protect naval operations.

Iranian media reported that Iranian forces also fired warning shots near the Strait of Hormuz, describing the action as a defensive measure potentially linked to the repositioning of US naval vessels.

At the same time, regional tensions widened beyond Iran, with Kuwait reporting it was responding to hostile missile and drone threats after earlier attacks in the country caused casualties and damage to infrastructure.

Diplomatic tensions also intensified as Iranian officials warned that the failure to reach a nuclear and economic agreement could trigger a broader regional war, with demands reportedly including the release of billions in frozen Iranian assets.

Meanwhile, US political leadership, including President Donald Trump, emphasized rapid progress on Iran policy despite ongoing hostilities and lack of a formal agreement.

In Lebanon, President Joseph Aoun criticized Iran’s role in regional conflicts, accusing Tehran of using Lebanon as leverage in its confrontation with Israel and the United States.

The situation reflects a broader and rapidly evolving confrontation involving direct military actions, proxy conflicts, and stalled diplomatic negotiations across the Middle East.
